Trauma & EMDR
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing) is an evidence-based therapy recommended by NICE for the treatment of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). It is also effective for anxiety, depression, phobias, addiction, chronic pain and recovery from abusive relationships.
EMDR helps clients process overwhelming experiences and release distress linked to past events. It works by helping the brain reprocess memories so they no longer trigger the same emotional intensity. The aim of EMDR is to reduce emotional distress and help clients move forward with greater freedom and resilience.
EMDR may help clients who feel:
Stuck or held back by past experiences
Overwhelmed, anxious or fearful
Emotionally numb or flat
Triggered by memories or reminders of past events

Early relationships play a vital role in a child’s emotional development. Disruptions to attachment—such as illness, separation, loss or parental difficulties—can impact emotional wellbeing and relationships.
Attachment-focused therapy supports both the child and parent or carer. Using guided play-based activities, Kathy helps strengthen emotional connection, rebuild trust and support healthy development.
This approach can help:
Improve parent-child relationships
Support emotional regulation
Address behavioural or emotional difficulties
Strengthen attachment and security

Developmental Attachment Therapy
Play & Child Therapy
Children often express their thoughts and emotions through play rather than words. Play Therapy allows children to communicate and process their experiences in a natural and safe way.
Through therapeutic play, Kathy helps children:
Express feelings they may not be able to verbalise
Work through difficult experiences
Improve emotional wellbeing
Build confidence and resilience
Play Therapy supports children’s emotional development and helps them recover from distressing or challenging experiences.
